The use of the indefinite article

•the indefinite article accompanies a count noun in singular
•it introduces a new thing / person not mentioned before
•with mass nouns (vino, caffè, acqua) indicates a particular type:

  Chianti è un ottimo vino.

•in exclamations it itensifies the noun:

  Ho una fame.
